What centuries of sauna culture actually describe, and how to build a heat practice that survives a normal week.
Sauna culture is old, well documented and, in its home regions, entirely ordinary. It is a social and domestic practice before it is anything else, which is worth remembering when equipment is sold as a performance upgrade.
A practice that survives a normal week is short, warm enough to be pleasant, and scheduled. Most people who abandon a home sauna do so because the session became a project rather than a habit.
Build around the time you actually have. Fifteen minutes, three times a week, done consistently, is a practice. Ninety minutes once a month is an event.
Consistency matters more than temperature.
Avoid heat sessions with alcohol. Consult a physician if pregnant or managing a cardiovascular condition.
